Open-air museums are also a very popular form of presentation of folk architecture. There are ten open-air museums or open-air museums in Slovakia, which represent a specific form of museum presentation of the traditional way of life and culture in a reconstructed historical, cultural and natural environment. Each presentation of the open-air museum in the Open-Air Museum publication begins with a brief description of the most interesting things that the open-air museum has to offer. A short introduction is followed by location, history and especially a walk through the site, during which the reader will learn many interesting things about individual objects. The texts about the open-air museums are interspersed with maps, plans and, of course, contemporary photographs are not missing. The publication contains a detailed description of 10 open-air museums, which are finally supplemented by a chapter characterizing current life in them and events that are organized here during the year. Finally, there is an overview of other sites that are trying to become other open-air museums in Slovakia with this status.
